Fairline Targa 52 & Dockmate
Simon brought his stunning Fairline Targa across from Guernsey to Plymouth to have his new Dockmate Twin installed. After arriving on Wednesday, Jeremy & Lloyd installed his Dockmate the next day. We connected both the boats engines, horn, windlass and bow thruster and made provision for connecting a stern thruster next season. On Thursday morning we handed over the system to the owner. It was a beautiful April morning and as you can see from the picture, video and Simon’s endorsement below, our customer and team were all very happy.
“I just wanted to thank Nick, Jeremy, Lloyd and team at ABS for their excellent service and game changing product, the DockMate.
It’s just excellent and aids safe single handed operation of the boat. It’s also very easy/intuitive to get used to.
I have boated most of my life and worked my way up to a Fairline Targa 52 (fitted with D12 715hp engines and a bow thruster, no stern thruster). At this size I was completely reliant on crew to sort lines and fenders while I stayed at the helm, but the DockMate means that I can now single handedly operate the boat, leaving the berth, docking and anchoring stress free and with ease.
I took delivery two days ago and since then have driven the boat through a lock in Plymouth en route back to Guernsey, anchored singlehandedly, and docked in our really tight home berth twice using the DockMate all with ease. Using the remote control unit you walk around the boat as you manoeuvre, eyeballing the distances from other boats, pontoon etc, feeling the wind strength and direction, so you have all the information that you need to decide on control inputs. It’s so much simpler than controlling from the helm.
I can see this doubling our usage and enjoyment of the boat, very highly recommended!!”
